Abseiling is an activity that pushes student’s boundaries, develops resilience under pressure and challenges them personally.

Archery was historically used for hunting and combat and has now become an Olympic sport. At Elanda Point Eco Camp, the aim of the activity is to provide students with a new recreational activity and develop motor skills.

The Rock Climbing Tower is a simulated natural rock surface with a series of challenging climbs and varying artificial climbing holds.

Teams and individuals challenge each other in a series of fun-filled activities and surf lifesaving skills guaranteed to have students engaged, energetic and possibly a little sandy, as they participate and cheer on their team mates.

Navigation requires skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain. Our students head off into the National Park using their new skills to navigate to some local historical sites. This is a rewarding and fundamental outdoor activity exploring and learning about our historical area.

Canoeing is a great way to explore our natural waterways and is a rewarding recreational activity. It is a watercraft with a history behind the design dating back thousands of years. Option to include a hike to this activity. We have several trails available to suit varying fitness levels and age groups.
Learning outcomes:
Students will be split into teams and participate in a series of fun activities that focus more on active participation than competition. The emphasis is on ‘TEAMWORK’ and how each individual contributes within a team.

Students will be able to push their individual fear zones and trust levels while participating in this activity while being reassured by our instructors on the safety of the equipment. The whole team is required to pull the ‘Swinger’ up as far as they choose.

We are fortunate to have such beautiful and historical places within working distance of Elanda Eco Camp. We can cater for different age groups and challenges with a variety of distances and sites nearby.
These historical Eco Hikes can also be turned into an overnight stay with a canoe paddle back to Elanda the next day.

Kayaking is another great way to explore our natural waterways and is a rewarding recreational activity. After being briefed, the students will put their new skills to the test as we involve a number of games and exploration of Lake Cootharaba.

Students climb to the top of an eight-metre timber pole and gain strength and trust to jump out and touch a suspended ball all safely instructed and belayed by our qualified staff.

We teach you the skills to ride safely and practice these in a safe and controlled environment with a number of fun but challenging skill tests before exploring our specifically made mountain bike course and dirt tracks. The pace of this activity will vary to meet the the group and provide time for those to learn.

Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding sport, one that often tests a climber’s strength, endurance, agility and balance along with mental control. Outdoor rock climbing involves the whole team to belay the climber safely up the rock face and down again.

The cruise includes a trip from elanda ecocamp to Harry’s hut with commentary by local guide & morning or afternoon tea in the wilderness. This excursion is an excellent complement to National Curriculum Objectives including Science Understanding.
Pristine Wilderness
We then send the students off and with the first clue ripped open, teams are on their way to a great adventure. Working together teams will follow orienteering directions and arrive at each activity stations to complete each challenge. The Elanda Great Race is an adventure-based team building activity that provides a great opportunity to turn learning a new skill into fun.

Raft building on the water’s edge of our 500m beach and Lake Cootharaba, students are given the task of designing and building their own raft to race against each other. Once your rafts are built the real fun starts as we put them through a number of different challenges.

We use inflatable boards that are user friendly, along with PFD’s to keep you safe. With 500m of beach front and a lake that’s only hip deep it’s a perfect place to learn a new skill and have fun. Our qualified instructors will take you through the basics before challenging you with different manoeuvres and turns.

Survival skills are techniques that any person may use in order to sustain life in any type of natural environment. These techniques are meant to provide basic necessities for human life which include fire, water, food, and shelter.

A series of fun, interactive and non-threatening activities that will help your group work cohesively together in a fun environment. Learning outcomes:
Instructors will lead students through the national park looking for animals and other night life. Students are taught about minimal impact and the safety of hiking at night before they set off. There is always a good spot to turn off all torches, check out the stars and reflect on the day. It’s the perfect way to end the day and tire the group out.

Students learn quickly that the best way to win is by stalking the lantern, they will learn cunning, stealth and patience to be the victor. It is the challenge for the instructors and teachers to defend the lantern armed with torches. This is a great activity for both students and teachers with a few different twists to be added through the night.

Eco Camp Trivia Nights are all about having fun. A typical format consists of 4 to 6 rounds of 10 questions, chosen from dozens of popular topics. In-between rounds a member from each team will have an opportunity to compete in a fun challenge for bonus points!

Red Faces is all about the group having fun and a laugh in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students prepare during their down time. All acts and songs need to be appropriate – with the aim of entertaining the audience and making sure that everyone has a great time! Our Elanda Instructor will be the RED FACES HOST with the teachers being the scoring panel.
